Beaches Negril: The Perfect Family Getaway!
Looking for the perfect destination for a family getaway? Do you love beautiful water, soft sand and amazingly friendly people? Does the idea of eating breakfast with your toes in the sand as the sun is rising sound like an ideal way to start your day? Look no farther than Beaches Negril in Jamaica! I was lucky enough to visit this charming resort with my family in February of 2016 and it was a total hit for all twelve of us—ages three to sixty-three! Here are my top reasons why:

The setting. Picture a tropical paradise with gorgeous hombre’ blue water, powder soft sand and palm trees lining the edges. You just can’t beat the views! The resort is tucked in among a beautiful array of tropical plants with inviting footpaths to lead you around. With only 186 guest rooms, its footprint on Jamaica’s famous Seven Mile Beach appeals to those seeking quaintness, coziness and that laid-back Jamaican vibe! No problem, Mon’!

The food. With nine restaurants ranging from pool-side huts serving Jamaican jerk chicken and wood-fired pizzas, buffets boasting fresh island ingredients and delicious Italian, Sushi and Mexican eateries there really is something for everyone. The kids were wide-eyed watching our chef prepare (with a few tricks thrown in!) the delicious oriental themed dinner at Kimono’s and dropping by for a pool-side ice-cream treat to beat the heat. My personal favorite was Stewfish right on the beach. If you are a fan of eggs benedict, you are in for a treat.

Unlimited Fun Activities-Land and Sea. At Beaches, pretty much everything is included and it really set these resorts apart from others we’ve visited. Imagine water skiing in the ocean or taking a glass bottom boat ride out to see beautiful tropical fish. Aqua trikes, paddleboards and hobie cats are ready and waiting on the beach. When you need a break from the salt water, take a leisurely float on the lazy river or enjoy the water park located steps from the beach. Beaches Negril also offers plenty of land activities including beach volleyball, basketball, tennis, miniature golf and a fitness center. For the kids, check out their Kids Camp and Sesame Street program. During your stay you’ll often run into Big Bird strolling through the resort and Cookie Monster making beach visits. Their nightly shows were also very entertaining for all ages!

Exceptional service. Our family booked a Butler Suite for our stay and thought it was worth every penny. Best part—we got to meet and become friends with the amazing Novia and Conrad! These people go out of their way to reserve your dining reservations, make sure your room is stocked with beverages of your choice and help answer any questions. Every morning, we’d head down to the beach where they had reserved beach chairs for our crew complete with a cooler of cold drinks and snacks, towel animals and sand toys for the kids. They add some extra magic with their special gestures like decorating our dinner table with flower petals and delivering sushi for appetizers on the beach.

Sea Foam, Not Styrofoam. I am impressed with Beaches commitment to our natural world by using sound environmental practices that help save water and energy through their Earth Guard program. In November of 2018 they eliminated single use plastic straws and stirrers (Sip-Sip, Hooray!) and in February of 2019 they will no longer be using any styrofoam products. The places these resorts are home to depend on it.

Beaches Negril was the perfect spot for our family to vacation and we can’t wait to go back!
